The Association for Women in Computing hosted their biggest and best Women in Computing Day on April 18th, 2008 headed by Meg Kurdziolek and Lise Vincent. Eighty-two middle school aged women attended the days events, and had a great time. The day started with a keynote talk by Brenda Hayes from IBM, and quickly broke into four different sessions. This year the sessions were on robotics, large displays, wireless technology, and bioinformatics. The days event came to a close with a visit from the Hokie Bird, and one student winning an iPod donated by K2. The AWC would like to thank the Computer Science Department and the CSRC Partners for their continual support for this event. Each year this event gets bigger and better and the AWC couldn’t do it without the valorous efforts put forth by all of the volunteers and Computer Science community. Photo taken by Pardha Pyla.
