the Virginia Tech softball team defeated the U.S. National Softball
Team, 1-0, in an exhibition game at Hall of Fame Stadium. Our
department is proud to have Morgan Harris, CS student and one of last
semester’s Scholars of the Future, in the softball team. “It
was unbelievable winning against the players you grow up watching on TV
but thankfully they still let us all get their autographs after the
game,” Harris said.“It was such a great honor to even be invited to Hall of Fame Stadium to play the USA Olympic team! I think we were all taken in by the atmosphere and desire to represent Virginia Tech. So when the time came we took the field with nothing to lose. We played them like anyone else and before we knew it, our nerves had settled and we had a 3 up, 3 down defensive bottom of the first. Then we put together some hits to score a run early in the 2nd inning! Every inning after was like a dream and the last out was the most triumphant one I think we will always remember. In my whole softball career I don't think there's been a feeling like it,” said Harris. |
