Active ImageVirginia Tech had a strong presence at the 22nd IEEE International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium, held April 14-18, 2008 in Miami, Florida. Ali Butt and his student presented a paper titled "On Utilization of Contributory Storage in Desktop Grids" that evaluates the use of voluntary storage resources in a wide-area environment towards developing a fault-tolerant storage system for use in grid environments. In addition, Ali Butt served as the session chair for Algorithms: Sensor Networks session at the conference. Eli Tilevich also had a full paper in the main section of the conference, titled "Efficient Automated Marshaling of C++ Data Structures for MPI Applications." His Masters student, Wesley Tansey, was the first author, and he also presented the paper. Wuchun Feng was program co-chair of the High-Performance, Power-Aware Computing Workshop at IPDPS. Ph.D. student, Song Huang, and Wuchun feng presented "Modeling and Analysis of Power in Multicore Network Processors."  For additional info, visit http://hppac.cs.vt.edu/.
