Active ImageOn Thursday, March 27, CS graduate student Ganesh Narayanaswamy received the College of Engineering’s Outstanding M.S. Student Award. It is indeed a great honor to have received this award and I feel really elated.  It is a huge encouragement for any graduate student and I hope to continue upholding the department's good name in the future.  I would like to thank my advisor Dr. Wu-chun Feng for nominating me and for his continued support, advice and belief in me.  Thanks also to all my friends, colleagues and family members for their constant inspiration, which has made this award possible,” Narayanaswamy said.

Narayanaswamy's thesis, advised by Dr. Wu-chun Feng, deals with the interaction of high speed networking stacks with multicore architectures and a framework implementation for improving application performance by intelligent mapping of processes to the ideal cores in multicore processors.  His research interests include high performance networking systems, high speed interconnects and protocols and parallel computing.  Narayanaswamy was a research intern at the Mathematics and Computer Science division, Argonne National Laboratory last summer, during the course of which he contributed to the open source MPICH2 project - an R&D 100 award winner.
