Two computer science graduate students have been selected for the College of Engineering's new Graduate Teaching Fellow (GTF) program. Amine Chigani and Rhonda Phillips, both PhD students in the department, will be participating in a new program designed to prepare doctoral students for an academic career. Funded jointly by the College of Engineering and the Computer Science Department, these awards provide tuition and a stipend for up to three years. Amine and Rhonda have both served as teaching assistants or summer instructors for the department, but this program will give them the opportunity to gain significant additional teaching experience.
During the first year of the program they will work with faculty in the Department of Engineering Education to teach the workshop sections of first-year engineering courses. In years two and three of the program, the students will be mentored by CS faculty members and serve as co-instructors for various computer science courses. |
