 On Thursday, October 11, the Advisory Board meeting was held at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center.
The participants included Pankaj Agarwal, Chair of the CS Department at Duke University; John Ellenberger, Director of SAP Research for the Eastern Region of North America; Susanne Hambrusch, Head of the CS Department at Purdue University; Mary Gay Miller, President of Interactive Design & Development, Inc.; J.D. Young, retired investor; and Xiaodong Zhang, Chairman of the Department of CS and Engineering and Robert M. Critchfield professor in Engineering at Ohio State University.
Richard Benson, Dean of Engineering, was also present to discuss the search for a new department head, as well as the role of the department in the college.
The annual meeting of the Board discussed the department’s strategic plan, reviewed progress in research, heard about the successes of the CHCI and CHECS, and gave feedback on the directions in the graduate and undergraduate programs.
