Research Interests
Dr. Chris North is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He directs the GigaPixel Display Laboratory, is head of the Laboratory for Information Visualization and Evaluation, and is a member of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2000.
His research is in the areas of human-computer interaction, information visualization, large high-resolution displays, and visualization evaluation methods. He is author of over 50 publications and leads multiple funded research projects, supported by NSF, NGA, NIST, and industry. He regularly teaches graduate courses on Information Visualization and undergraduate courses on Human-Computer Interaction. He has served on the Organizing Committee of the IEEE Information Visualization Conference since 2004. He was awarded Faculty Fellow of the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech in 2007.

This NSF-funded facility contains reconfigurable ultra-high resolution displays, totaling approximately 200 million pixels, one of the highest resolutions in the world. | |
