Research Interests
Wu Feng is a professor in the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He leads the Synergy Laboratory as well as three ".org" projects --- The Green500 List, Supercomputing in Small Spaces, and mpiBLAST --- and belongs to two centers: Center for High-End Computing and the NSF Center of High-Performance Reconfigurable Computing (CHREC). His research interests are in the areas of systems and applications for high-performance networking and computing, green computing --- both low power and power aware, and bioinformatics. Feng received a B.S. in Computer Engineering and B.S. Honors in Music from Penn State University, a M.S. in Computer Engineering from Penn State University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of ACM.
Synergy LaboratoryURL: http://synergy.cs.vt.edu/ The Systems, Networking, and Renaissance Grokking (SyNeRGy) Lab conducts basic and applied research that provides scientists and engineers with scalable and efficient computational tools that enable them to concentrate on their science and engineering rather than on the computer science and engineering. To that end, we explore a breadth of complementary intellectual activities that span the high- performance & enterprise-wide spectrum --- from systems software to middleware to applications software to tools --- in order to empower cyber-scientists and cyber-engineers of tomorrow. |
