Rex Hartson is Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at Virginia Tech.  He
received BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Michigan in 1965 and
1967 and MSCIS and Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in 1972 and 1975.  In
1979, he was the founding faculty member in Human-Computer Interaction in
the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech and pioneered in HCI as
a field and in the models, methods, and tools of usability engineering as a
discipline and practice.  Hartson also held a research position at Xerox
Corporation and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow,
Scotland.



Extensive consulting and training for over 100 organizations in business,
industry, and government.  Most recent publication is a book, with co-author
Pardha Pyla, *The UX Book: Process and guidelines for ensuring a quality
