How to prepare for a Career Fair

Interviewing Tips

Tips from CSRC recruiters:

  • Recruiters are impressed with students who have done their homework and know something about their company.  One of the top complaints from recruiters are students who walk up and say "What does your company do?"
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Have plenty of copies of your resume.
  • Expect that companies may ask that you apply online.  In some instances, you may have to apply online to be officially considered for an interview.
  • Have someone else review your resume, preferably someone in Career Services or an advisor.

NetApp

(Current as of Spring 2009)

NetApp, Inc., voted one of Fortune Magazine's Best 100 companies to work for six years in a row, is a world leader in unified storage solutions for today’s-intensive enterprise. Since its inception in 1992, NetApp has pioneered technology, product, and partner firsts that continue to drive the evolution of storage. NetApp® storage solutions include specialized hardware, software, and services, providing seamless storage management for open network environments. Major corporations and service providers, including Citicorp Securities, Lockheed, Merrill Lynch, Oracle, Texas Instruments, and Yahoo!, utilize NetApp® global data management solutions.

What makes NetApp so great?

According to Fortune, NetApp climbed 21 spots as employees cheered enhanced benefits for parents of special-needs children, widespread use of flexible schedules (95% of employees), and a soaring stock (up 50% in 2006).

There are many more reasons why we’re considered the company of choice.  Our offices and culture are a reflection of our desire to create an environment that is innovative and provides our employees the opportunity "to work hard and play hard".   In addition to a collaborative and challenging technical environment which inspires innovation, we offer what Fortune has described as "Bubble-era perks" --morning snack (breakfast is provided free), on-site massages, flexible work schedule, employee rewards, social area including a pool table, foosball or other games, workout rooms  and Friday afternoon beer bashes.  NetApp® is simply a great place to work!

Most recently, NetApp equipment was used for three Oscar nominees in the visual effects category.  Our network-storage systems were used in creating these outstanding films --   ``War of the Worlds,'' ``The Chronicles of Narnia'' and ``King Kong''.  Each production company stored, accessed and modified their computer graphics imaging data using NetApp equipment.

In addition to our corporate office in California, we have technical centers in:

 Research Triangle Park, NC

Pittsburgh, PA

Waltham, MA

Our Research Triangle Park, NC technical center was voted the #1 company to work for in the area.  Sometimes referred to as the “Golden Triangle”, RTP, NC, is a technical research center often compared to the Stanford Research Center in California.  The area, which is ranked #2 by Forbes magazine and on the top 10 list for Money,  has three major universities – Duke, North Carolina State University and University of North Carolina, which provides for cultural diversity and intellectual opportunities.  It is also recognized as a center for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries (http://www.raleigh-wake.org/life_com.html) as well as, IT and software development.  Companies such as Cisco, Ericsson, IBM, Red Hat and Nortel have major corporate facilities in RTP, NC.  The area is close to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Atlantic coast and is a destination for golfers (US Open 2005  was held in Pinehurst, NC).  College and professional sports -- from the Carolina Hurricanes to the National Champion basketball teams from UNC, Duke and NCSU -- make this area very desirable.  The cost of living (COLA) in the Triangle is very attractive and significantly lower than in California and other large cities.  Home ownership in the Triangle is a reality not just a dream.  http://www.raleighchamber.org/visitor/index.html
