The Department's industrial affiliates program (the Computer Science Resources Consortium, CSRC) hosts its annual Fall Career Fair this week.  Hence, it is timely to see the results of a recent survey conducted by the Wall Street Journal of 479 of the largest public and private companies, nonprofits and government agencies.

A total of 842 recruiters, representing every region of the country and spanning nearly two dozen industries, were asked to identify, based on their experience, the schools whose bachelor degree graduates were the best-trained and educated, and best able to succeed once hired.  On the overall list, Virginia Tech ranked 13th.  The survey also asked for rankings of individual majors.  CS@VT ranked fifth on the computer science list, trailing only Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, Michigan and Georgia Tech.
