Immersive Environments

Immersive virtual environments provide rich, realistic sensory cues to human users. Such cues include wide visual field of view, stereoscopic computer graphics, and spatialized sound. Research in this area addresses questions such as:

  • What are the effects of varying levels of sensory fidelity (immersion?)
  • What are the benefits of high levels of immersion for various tasks and applications?
  • How can we design effective interaction for immersive environments?
