A department is only as good as its people. That is why the Computer Science Department places so much emphasis on finding outstanding people to build its faculty and staff. The department faculty members are not only dedicated to conducting research and expanding the boundaries of human knowledge, but they also are focused and passionate about teaching. Virginia Tech is one of the few research universities that ensure that students never are taught only by graduate students. This allows the knowledge and experience of the faculty to be transferred directly to the students, creating and inspiring the technology leaders of tomorrow.
